On September 29, LOMARTOV had the pleasure of taking part in the REINFORCING webinar “ORRI in the Balkans in Practice”, an inspiring event that brought together the grantees of the programme’s second call to showcase their projects and achievements.

Together with our partner, the National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” (NIMRD), our team presented the progress of the REINFORSEA project, an initiative focused on integrating Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI) principles into marine research within the Black Sea region.

REINFORSEA is advancing a collaborative approach to make marine science more transparent, inclusive, and socially responsible, ensuring that innovation goes hand in hand with sustainability and stakeholder engagement.

The webinar provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow projects — YO-FI, Corib, RobotORRI, CORYA, ORBIT, SuDe2Re, and INSPIRE — each contributing unique perspectives on how ORRI principles can be embedded into research organisations and practices.

A special highlight of the event was the insightful contribution by Prof. Goran Stojanovic (University of Novi Sad), who shared his expertise on advancing ORRI practices across the Balkans, reinforcing the importance of openness and collaboration in scientific progress.

At LOMARTOV, we are proud to support NIMRD in promoting responsible research and innovation across marine science institutions. By strengthening the link between science, society, and sustainability, REINFORSEA is helping to shape a more transparent and resilient research ecosystem in the Black Sea and beyond.
