Last May 28th, LOMARTOV had the pleasure of hosting the latest General Assembly of the OHPERA project in Valencia. Now entering its final year, OHPERA is making important strides in the field of photo-electrochemical sustainable hydrogen production and the valorisation of industrial byproducts, such as glycerol, as part of the EU’s push toward clean energy and circular economy solutions.

The in-person meeting brought together project partners from across Europe to assess technical progress and coordinate the next steps. Key topics included:

  • Research achievements to date
  • Planning for the upcoming project phase
  • Technical milestones on the horizon
  • Organisation of key outreach events (Autumn School and Industrial Workshop)

LOMARTOV’s role in OHPERA

As a proud partner in the OHPERA consortium, LOMARTOV contributes with expertise in:

Our work ensures that OHPERA’s innovation is not only cutting-edge but also aligned with the principles of environmental and social sustainability.

“Meetings like this one are a great opportunity to catch up on the exciting progress made in recent months, to fully harness the collaborative strength of the OHPERA consortium, and to align our efforts as we move closer to delivering our proof-of-concept devices,” said the project coordinator.

Among the key technical milestones discussed:

  • Defining performance descriptors for the photoelectrochemical cells under realistic conditions
  • Advancing the integration and testing of a tandem PEC device for sustainable hydrogen production and glycerol oxidation

The meeting concluded with a shared sense of momentum and collaboration, and a commitment to ensuring that OHPERA continues to deliver impactful research as it enters its final phase.

Stay tuned for updates on the upcoming Autumn School in Castellón and the Industrial Workshop set to take place in 2026!
