On June 25, 2025, LOMARTOV hosted the SolDAC industrial workshop “Igniting the Future: SolDAC Meets the Market” in Barcelona, bringing together scientists, engineers, cleantech entrepreneurs, and innovation stakeholders. The event marked a key milestone for the SolDAC Horizon Europe project, bridging cutting-edge science with industrial relevance.
Held at Sercotel Caspe, the half-day workshop served as a space for reflection, collaboration, and forward-thinking strategy. The event opened with presentations from project partners highlighting progress in Full-Spectrum Solar systems, Direct Air Capture, and Photoelectrochemical conversion—three technological pillars of the SolDAC project.
LOMARTOV’s contribution: sustainability, social impact & industry engagement
As leaders in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and sustainability strategy within SolDAC, LOMARTOV played a central role during the workshop. Our colleagues Edgar Contreras and Mihaela Mirea presented key findings on the environmental performance and social impact of the SolDAC technology, ensuring that sustainability is integrated at every stage of development.
We also support the consortium by:
- Developing ecodesign guidelines to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental burdens
- Assessing social acceptance and potential co-benefits for local communities
- Leading dissemination and communication activities to amplify impact and build stakeholder trust
By coordinating this workshop, LOMARTOV helped facilitate dialogue between researchers and industry actors, enabling a more market-aligned, stakeholder-informed project roadmap.
From lab to market: what’s next?
The day’s discussions underscored both the technical potential and real-world challenges in deploying decentralised, solar-powered carbon capture and conversion systems. Industry speakers from Captur Tower, SOLATOM, H2B2, and eChemicles contributed valuable insights on market readiness, integration, and scaling pathways, all of which will inform SolDAC’s final demonstration phase.
Driving Europe’s clean industrial transition
SolDAC is pioneering an alternative to fossil-fuel-based chemical production, using only solar energy to convert captured atmospheric CO₂ into ethylene, a key industrial molecule. It’s a vision of carbon-negative chemistry that aligns directly with Europe’s goals for a climate-neutral, circular, and competitive economy.
At LOMARTOV, we’re proud to support this transition by ensuring technologies are not only technically viable but also environmentally responsible, socially accepted, and ready to scale.
