Brussels, July 2025 — Earlier this month, the BATSS project reached a major milestone with its 18-month General Assembly, hosted at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel by the renowned MOBI Electromobility Research Centre. As a core partner of the project, LOMARTOV joined fellow consortium members for two intensive days of exchange, reflection, and forward planning,  all focused on shaping the next generation of safe, high-performance battery systems for transport and mobile applications.

This midterm review marked a crucial checkpoint for the Horizon Europe-funded initiative, with significant progress shared across all technical areas,  from system-level design and thermal optimisation to advanced safety strategies and circularity principles.

LOMARTOV’s Role

As the leader of Dissemination, Communication, and Data Management within BATSS, LOMARTOV plays a key role in ensuring that the project’s outcomes reach the right audiences and are aligned with broader European goals for sustainable and responsible innovation.

Our contributions include:

  • Strategic communication and dissemination of BATSS innovations to industry, policy, and the public
  • Clustering with related European initiatives, promoting cross-project learning and synergies
  • Data Management, ensuring open science practices and secure knowledge handling
  • Supporting exploitation pathways and financial coordination to strengthen long-term impact

Through these actions, LOMARTOV helps the BATSS consortium amplify its technical achievements and position its results for real-world application, ensuring that battery innovations don’t just remain in the lab, but contribute to climate-neutral transport solutions across Europe.

From Design to Demonstration

With the first phase of development complete, BATSS is now moving into the critical phase of validation and integration. The consortium is focused on translating its promising concepts into robust prototypes that meet demanding performance, safety, and sustainability requirements.

The event also included a visit to MOBI’s state-of-the-art laboratories, offering an inspiring look at the cutting-edge research environment supporting the project. Informal networking moments further reinforced the consortium’s collaborative spirit, an essential ingredient in making BATSS a success.

As the project enters its second half, LOMARTOV remains committed to guiding its dissemination strategy, supporting exploitation efforts, and ensuring that the project’s sustainability values are reflected across its lifecycle.

BATSS is coordinated by CIDETEC Energy Storage, with partners including CIE Automotive, IFP Energies Nouvelles, Austrian Institute of Technology, Accurec Recycling, UNE Normalización, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, MIBA Battery Systems, and associated partner FPT Motorenforschung.
