The CAT4HEAVY Project celebrated its successful conclusion last week during a final event hosted by the Municipality of Galatsi in Greece. Over three productive days, project partners and stakeholders came together to reflect on the achievements of the project and discuss its future potential in the field of emission control technology.
CAT4HEAVY focused on developing an innovative and sustainable catalyst-based emission control system designed to retrofit public heavy-duty vehicles. This cutting-edge system, developed by Monolithos, offers a solution that effectively reduces air pollutant emissions, lowers the demand for critical raw materials, and minimises ammonia usage, all critical steps in creating a cleaner and safer environment.
The event was structured to review the project’s impact and explore pathways for real-world applications of the developed technology.
On the first day, the CAT4HEAVY Emission Control System and its applications were highlighted. Our Sustainability Technical Officer Alba Lafarga presented the results of our comprehensive sustainability impact assessment, the key performance indicators monitored throughout the project, and the socioeconomic evaluations for the catalyst-based emission control system solution.
A workshop led by C2M experts was conducted to explore the business feasibility and market potential of the CAT4HEAVY technology. This session provided valuable insights for scaling the innovation within the industry and ensuring its long-term success.
To close the event, CAT4HEAVY partners hosted a Final Conference, presenting the project’s achievements to the general public. This session showcased the environmental and economic benefits of the CAT4HEAVY solution, highlighting its potential to support a greener future for heavy-duty transport.

The CAT4HEAVY project has underscored the potential for retrofitting heavy-duty vehicles with advanced emission control systems as an impactful measure for reducing emissions and critical raw material dependency. As CAT4HEAVY reaches its successful conclusion, our partners remain committed to exploring new pathways for advancing sustainable technologies in the transport sector.
