On November 26–27, Barcelona became the epicenter of battery innovation as it hosted the Battery Innovation Days 2024, a premier event in Europe’s battery research and innovation landscape. This fourth edition brought together industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers to discuss cutting-edge technologies, strategic growth paths, and sustainability practices shaping the future of energy storage in Europe.
Organised by renowned initiatives such as Batteries Europe, Battery 2030+, BEPA, and IPCEI Batteries, this year’s event showcased Europe’s progress and challenges in the battery sector. From addressing the complexities of high-quality battery production to rethinking supply chain strategies, the forum highlighted critical discussions that influence the global competitiveness of European battery manufacturers, suppliers, and OEMs.
In addition to panel discussions and keynote speeches, participants experienced the innovation firsthand. The event featured visits to ALBA Synchrotron and IDIADA’s technological facilities, showcasing Catalonia’s excellence in advancing battery technologies. ACCIÓ’s OPTIMA Office, as host, further demonstrated Catalonia’s leadership in fostering competitiveness and innovation.
LOMARTOV proudly participated in this influential forum, showcasing our expertise in sustainability, market uptake, and visibility strategies for emerging battery and energy storage technologies. Representing our involvement in multiple EU-funded projects—BATSS, VERSAPRINT, RESPECT, BATMASS, RENOVATE, and AIR4NRG—we emphasised the importance of integrating environmental impact assessments, techno-economic feasibility, and market entry strategies into the development of next-generation battery solutions.
During the event, Evelina Castellana, our operations coordinator, and Marco Bianchini, one of our sustainability technologists, actively engaged in discussions on how European stakeholders can collaboratively address pressing challenges like raw material scarcity, production scalability, and alignment with circular economy principles. They also highlighted how LOMARTOV’s tailored services support EU projects in achieving both technological and market success.
Reflecting on the event, Evelina stated:
“We are very proud to have participated in the fourth edition of the Battery Innovation Days and to witness the continuous growth of Europe’s battery ecosystem. We’re excited to keep contributing to this progress next year in Graz, Austria.”
The Battery Innovation Days 2024 reinforced the importance of collaboration between industries, academia, and policymakers in driving sustainable energy solutions. By participating in these events, LOMARTOV strengthens its position as a key enabler for market-ready, sustainable battery solutions and reinforces its commitment to taking a step forward in Europe’s battery innovation.
As we look forward to next year’s event in Graz, Austria, LOMARTOV remains committed to advancing innovation in the battery and energy storage sectors, ensuring a sustainable and impactful future for Europe’s green energy transition.
Stay tuned for updates on our projects and upcoming events!
