How can the results of European research projects be transformed into educational resources that prepare the next generation of professionals for the energy transition?

To explore this question, LOMARTOV organised and moderated the webinar “Teaching the Energy Transition: Bringing Circular Bio-Based Energy Innovations into the Classroom”, held on 12 May as part of the NIAGARA Horizon Europe project.

The event brought together researchers, educators and representatives from several EU-funded projects to discuss how scientific advances in bio-based energy, circular economy and renewable fuels can be translated into accessible learning materials and real-world educational experiences.

During the webinar, the NIAGARA, ICARUS and FUELGAE projects showcased different approaches to turning research outcomes into teaching resources, practical case studies and educational tools that help students better understand emerging clean energy technologies and their role in the transition to a more sustainable society.

Discussions highlighted the essential role that education and science communication play in supporting the uptake of innovative technologies. Participants agreed that accelerating the energy transition requires not only scientific excellence, but also greater public awareness, interdisciplinary learning and effective knowledge transfer between research, education and society.
